Hurworth WardThe WardHurworth ward contains the villages of Hurworth, Hurworth Place and Neasham, plus outlying houses and farms. It stretches from the River Tees up to the Darlington by-pass. Hurworth lies in the Darlington Borough Council area, but is in the Sedgefield constituency. Liberal Democrats in the ward are part of Darlington Liberal Democrats. The ward elects two councillors to Darlington Borough Council. Both are Liberal Democrats, Cllr Martin Swainston and Cllr Malcolm Dunstone. Hurworth Ward Focus TeamThe Hurworth Ward Focus Team is Councillor Martin Swainston and Malcolm Dunstone. Martin Swainston won the Hurworth Ward by-election in 2005 and now represents the ward on Darlington Borough Council. He was re-elected in the local elections of May 2007. Martin is employed by The Environment Agency. He is married to Alex, who works for Connexions in Darlington. Martin is an enthusiastic climber, walker and diver. Malcolm Dunstone is a Justice of the Peace in Darlington. Now retired, he was formerly a Liberal Democrat councillor for a rural ward in Hertfordshire. He was elected to Darlington Borough Council to represent Hurworth ward in the local elections of May 2007. Malcolm has a wealth of experience in community matters.
