Cars for sale on North Road

6.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 1st Oct 2007

Mike Barker has had some success in his campaign against the rogue car dealers who make such a mess of North Road. Two dealers have been prosecuted recently

Unfortunately, the problem remains. These people still advertise their cars on North Road.

Mike raised this issue in July's Full Council meeting and was promised that the wardens would continue to take action whenever possible.

The law says that two cars cannot be sold by the same person within 200 metres of each other. However, these dealers use different mobile phone numbers to advertise each car and each one is registered with a different owner (often the previous owner after the car has been bought at auction). It is therefore very difficult to bring a successful prosecution.

Rest assured, the wardens will continue to take action against this nuisance whenever the opportunity arises.
