Kajima site cleared at last.

In North Road ward, the piece of land behind the Longfield Road flats next to Harrowgate Hill Primary School has been nothing but trouble for residents over the last few years.

First there were horses galloping through the gap into the park; then Kajima took over the area as a noisy building site, to build the school. They left the site in a complete mess and Councillor Fred Lawton insisted that the area be properly cleared and returned to parkland.

The first attempt at a clean up by the Council was a failure. Their contractor left the site full of rubbish and in a dangerous condition.

A site meeting between officials and ward Councillors has now reached agreement that the area will be ploughed over, all rubbish removed and grass seed planted. The area will be fenced off to allow the grass to grow.
