It's neck-and-neck as by-election enters its last week!

With just a few days to go until the College Ward by-election on March 2nd, canvassing returns in the ward show the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives are neck-and-neck. The Labour Party's vote has collapsed - just like it did last year in the Hurworth by-election

The Conservative campaign is struggling to overcome the general public perception in the ward that they are arrogant and complacent. We never hear from our Conservative Councillors in College ward, and voters are wondering what the Conservatives have done to deserve their votes. Local man, Garry Hinton, the Liberal Democrat candidate is hard at work - as he always is in the area - fighting for improvements to Stanhope Park, the state of our roads, pavements and back lanes, and to get a solution to our traffic and parking problems which suits local residents, rather than the Council.
