Huge Response to College Ward Focus Survey

9.00.00pm GMT Sat 21st Jan 2006

Our survey of College Ward produced a huge response from residents, many of whom expressed their delight at being asked their views on local issues, after years of being taken for granted by their Conservative Councillors.

The full results of this survey, and details of the action we have taken as a result, will be published in Focus leaflets over the coming weeks and will be available on this website.

The main issues over which residents expressed concerns were:

1. problems caused by town centre workers and shoppers parking for free in College ward, in order to avoid the high car parking charges in the town centre; residents want a residents-only parking scheme, but not one that costs £50 a year!

2. recycling: residents want the Council to add opaque plastics, cardboard and green waste added to the list of items collected at the doorstep by the Council's recycling collection service.

3. anger at the Council's failure to consult local people before embarking on its controversial plans for the High Row.
